Transforming Cities: Cooling Jakarta

“As global temperatures rise, Indonesia’s instant fix of air conditioning is worsening urban heat. This project documents a breakthrough, sustainable alternative: “BeCool” UV-reflective roof paint, developed by architecture professor and lecturer, Beta Paramita. Captured in a dense Tangerang settlement, the visual narrative highlights how BeCool paint could significantly cool a home’s interior from 31°C to 27°C, providing a tangible solution to a warming world. This film was produced for the Clean Cooling Collaborative and ClimateWorks Foundation by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions as part of C40 Cities’ Transforming Cities series.”
